2019 WILL DETERMINE NIGERIA

Image
PUBLISHED BY TIMOTHY: Honourable Ebun Tracy Agol is the Edo State chairperson of the Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN), she is also the party’s candidate for Etsako Federal constituency. In this interview with OJIEVA EHIOSUN, she spoke on a number of national issues. Excerpts… As a politician, what is your perception of the forthcoming 2019 elections? The general election will go a long way in determining so many things in Nigeria, especially our continuity as a nation. It is an election that will likely generate tension, an election that will attract observers from all over the world, that will make Nigerians with conscience take their destinies in their hands. The 2019 general elections will bring out the best from our politicians; it will either keep us as one united indivisible entity, or divide us into parts as it happened in the former USSR. In 2015, the generality of Nigerians wanted change, and the APC came with matrix of change; we expected a genuine change, but w...

We should be careful how we treat our housekeepers – Effah-Chukwuma

Image
PUBLISHED BY TIMOTHY Josephine Effah-Chukwuma, Executive Director, Project Alert on Violence Against Women told OLUWASEYIKEMI ANDREW in this interview that domestic servants appear to be on a revenge mission in recent time. The issue of  killer  house helps  appear  to be getting out of hand. How did the country find itself in this seeming mess? Well I would say that it is a combination of factors. One of it is the carelessness of people that hire them in the sense that they seem not to take the proper step before hiring them. One of the questions should be where did they come from? Who brought them to whom? Did those that engage them get the details of who is to work for them? Those are things you should consider before engaging them really. Getting a maid or any domestic servant for that matter is not a bad idea and I am not supporting them or judging anybody but we must be careful in the manner we hire them. We should also try to get them from the rig...

A man, as husband and father

PUBLISHED BY TIMOTHY: Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thing house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table. Ps 128:3 (KJV). When a male child is born, the prayer of every parent is for him to grow to become a man, then become a husband and later in life become a father. But not every male child has the grace to pass through three phases of life. For this reason, I sincerely pray that you and your son(s) will not only pass through these phases of life but will also surpass them by becoming a grandfather and great grandfather in Jesus name. “Each of three phases of life is attached with responsibilities and duties. Becoming a man is not a matter of age alone but of maturity also. It is not every married man that can be called husband because being a husband is attached with responsibility likewise. Impregnating a woman and having a child can make you a father in biological terms but not in the real sense of being a father. Apart from responsibili...
